The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of AVTEC, is recruiting for a Power Plant Instructor located in Seward. No Cover Letter Required.
This position is in the Alaska Vocational Technical Teacher's Unit (AVTECTA).
What You Will Be Doing:As an AVTEC Instructor, you will plan, develop, and deliver instruction for the Power Plant Operator and Bulk Fuels Operator programs both online and in person. Your duties include maintaining and developing program curriculum; designing, building, and maintaining practical industry‑based labs and shop areas; facilitating program advisory board meetings; and maintaining student training records.

Who We Are Looking For:- Education and Training:
Knowledge of teaching, training, presentations, lecturing, assessing student learning, and mastery of instructional methods. Applicants will demonstrate their abilities. - Mechanical Knowledge:
Experience with machines and tools, including design, use, repair, operation, and maintenance. - Teaching Others:
Mentor others, identify training needs, provide constructive feedback, coach task performance. - Flexibility:
Openness to change and rapid adaptation to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles. - Electrical Engineering:
Knowledge of electrical systems design, analysis, testing, integration, energy conversion, electrical power generation, transmission, control, distribution, or use.
Four years of journey-level trade experience in the applicable field, OR
- A bachelor's degree in the applicable field; two years of journey-level trade experience; and two years of professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training.
- An industry‑recognized professional certification in the applicable field; two years of journey-level trade experience; and two years of professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training.
Note:
Positions require expertise in a specific vocational field such as culinary arts, business, office technology, applied technology, information technology, maritime operations or safety, medical services, construction, or trades. Training or experience requirements are unique to the assigned field.

Salary Information:Starting salary depends on qualifications, experience, and State of Alaska policy.
