The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of AVTEC, is recruiting for a Culinary Arts Instructor located in Seward! No Cover Letter Required! This position is in the Alaska Vocational Technical Teacher's Unit (AVTECTA).
What You Will Be Doing- Responsible for planning, developing, and delivering the Culinary Arts program.
- Maintaining and developing program curriculum.
- Designing, building, and maintaining practical industry‑based labs and kitchen areas.
- Facilitating program advisory board meetings.
- Maintaining student training records.
- Collaborating closely with the current instructor to support consistent, high‑quality instruction.

Who We Are Looking For- Education and Training: Knowledge of teaching, training, research, making presentations, lecturing, testing, and other instructional methods.
- Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on‑the‑job experience to perform one’s job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.
- Leadership: Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations.
- Partnering: Develops networks and builds alliances; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
- Food Service: Knowledge of preparing and serving food for consumption.
- Four years of journey‑level trade experience in the applicable field.
- Or: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in the applicable field; AND two years of journey‑level trade experience in the applicable field; AND two years of professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
- Or:
An industry recognized professional certification in the applicable field; AND two years of journey‑level trade experience in the applicable field; AND two years professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
These positions require expertise in a particular vocational field such as the culinary arts, business or office technology, applied technology, information technology, maritime operations or safety, medical services, construction, or the trades. The required training or experience for each position is unique to the assigned field of instruction.
