LocationThe job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Applicants must live in Juneau or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
Pay and BenefitsSeasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. The plan is designed to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, at the sole discretion of the Company. Starting Rate: $20.00 - DOE.
Responsibilities- Ensure that each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
- Provide people-oriented service and display a positive attitude.
- Maintain a balanced drawer and accurately ring up sales and handle cash.
- Use diplomacy when a customer’s credit card is declined.
- Act as the supervisor (Ticket Agent or Host) with limited decision‑making authority during operational hours when manager is unavailable.
- Assist the Guest Services Supervisor in establishing and nurturing relationships between Tramway, pass holders, vendors, and cruise ship sales staff to secure and increase sales.
- Act as the primary contact to all guests in the sky bridge, ensuring proper ticketing, and sell down tickets to those not properly ticketed via a mobile POS system.
- Prevent the public from becoming nonpaying riders.
- Provide directions to guests regarding all mountain top attractions.
- Coordinate theater host breaks and operate projection and sound system for the theater complex.
- Provide correct tour and visitor information, assistance, ticketing services and sales to guests, and supervise subordinate hosts or Ticket Agents.
- Train and supervise subordinate hosts.
- Work with Tram Attendant and other staff to keep the line orderly and moving, checking for wrist stamps, answering questions, and problem solving.
- Use diplomacy to de‑escalate interruptions of tramway operations.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required.
- Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
- Ability to work all shifts including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to attend all scheduled meetings, orientations, and trainings.
- Ability to handle stress under pressure.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Skill in operating a personal computer using a variety of software.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Ability to work directly with the public and provide information and assistance on a daily basis.
- Willingness to learn and share local history, culture, geography with guests.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) seasons of ticket agent or host, customer service, or paraprofessional level experience involved with tourism, travel, and/or hospitality services, including cash handling tasks.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Current CPR Certification and First Aid training or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Drug testing may be required.
- Previous experience in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service‑related field.
- Previous supervisory experience.
