Overview

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

This position will help all Tramway employees develop an understanding of the Tlingit way of life. Learn correct use of the Tlingit language, mentor employees using traditional tribal values, and serve as a leading ambassador to GT guests. The position will supervise and train the theater staff, and other tramway staff if requested by respective departmental managers.

Seasonal Employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan, designed to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during their assignment. Goldbelt, Inc. may grant discretionary performance bonuses in certain limited circumstances. The plan aims to motivate and increase retention, enhancing long‑term value.

Starting Rate: $30.00 - DOE

• Teach GT employees the appropriate ways to welcome guests in a Tlingit manner, including social structure, protocols, and authorized use of Tlingit songs, dance, and stories. Provide words and phrases in the Tlingit language.
• Mentor fellow GT theater hosts and employees on proper pronunciation and use of the Tlingit language for introductions and guest interactions.
• Maintain an excellent customer service level to all guests, greet potential guests, and provide correct tour and visitor information across all Tramway facilities.
• Guide staff in customer service practices and techniques, especially those reflecting traditional tribal values.
• Assist staff in guest services, retail sales, and restaurant areas, promoting retail sales and theater hosting.
• Participate/attend weekly Manager’s Meetings; considered part of the GT management team.
• Supervise and train theater staff.
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

• Knowledge of the Tlingit social structure and culture with ability to teach employees.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees.
• Skill in operating personal computer using a variety of software.
• Working knowledge of tram operations systems.
• Meeting time and attendance requirements.
• Availability for all shifts, including holidays and weekends.
• Attendance at all scheduled meetings, orientations, and trainings.
• Ability to handle stress under pressure.
• Providing quality customer service.
• Working directly with the public daily.
• Willingness to learn and pass on informational areas of interest to guests (local history, culture, geography, etc.).

• Demonstrated experience as a good role model of Tlingit traditions, with communication skills to teach traditional tribal values.
• Ability to successfully pass a background check.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR and first aid certificates; prior tramway operations experience.
• Fluent Tlingit language speaker.
