Job Overview

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram experience breathtaking scenery aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors the opportunity to explore Mount Roberts’ trails and learn about Alaska Native culture.

Summary

Responsible for providing tour and local visitor information and assistance and overseeing efforts to prevent the public from becoming non‑paying riders. Full‑time and part‑time roles are available.

Location & Availability

The position is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Applicants must either live in Juneau or be open to relocating at their own expense. Part‑time and full‑time schedules are available.

Pay and Benefits

Seasonal employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. The plan motivates and compensates eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. Goldbelt, Inc. may also grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program in the company’s sole discretion.
Starting Rate: $15.00 - DOE

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
  • People-oriented and able to provide superior customer service.
  • Display a positive attitude that is contagious, speaking highly of the company in the presence of customers or other associates.
  • Maintain an excellent customer service level to all incoming and outgoing cruise ship, special group or local passengers, meet and greet all potential tramway guests; provide tram and visitor information; give directions to the viewing areas, gift shops, restaurant, and other locations; explain the details of the full tramway experience.
  • At the lower terminal, provide the highest level of customer service to all guests, explaining the various products or services available for purchase within the aerial tramway, including tramway transportation, theater viewing, restaurant products, etc.; collect (and count at end of shift) vouchers; verify purchased tickets before guests get onto the tramway cabins and depart.
  • Must be able to read and accurately exchange cruise ship vouchers for correct tram tickets or other tours.
  • Must be able to function under pressure during peak visitor hours and greet each guest as if they were your first guest of the day.
  • Requires repetitive, consistent process of scanning, punching tickets and stamping wrists to validate the guests visit.
  • Constantly applies effective practices and techniques of providing excellent customer service to all incoming and outgoing passengers; seeks and follows advice provided by Lead Host or Lead Ticket Agent in improving customer service skills and becoming more familiar with tour and visitor information.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications Necessary Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to attend scheduled meetings, orientations and training sessions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions/directions.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests areas of interest such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
  • Hiring for attitude, will train for skills.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
  • Current CPR Certification and First Aid training or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Drug testing may be required.
  • Previous experience working in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service related field.
