Job Description

This position is responsible for processing filings in civil, appeals, criminal, post-conviction relief, and habeas corpus cases and may process other case types such as CINA, delinquency, and probate as necessary. You will be responsible for reviewing all motions, proposed judgments or findings, and stipulations for proper use of forms and technical compliance with applicable rules and statutes, and ensure motions are accompanied by all necessary supporting documents.

This role requires you to provide exemplary customer service to court patrons within the standards of the Alaska Court System. You will assist customers (pro se litigants, attorneys and other agencies) at public service counter and by phone providing information on court cases, forms, procedures, and records, without giving legal advice.

Additionally, you will maintain and modify entries in Court View motion tracking program, process requests for default and default judgments, process marriage licenses and marriage commission applications, generate daily computer reports and work them in accordance with established procedures, answer technical and procedural questions from clerks, administrative assistants, judicial officers, and assist other desks in department as needed.

  • Experience or knowledge of legal procedures
  • Experience preparing professional documents and applying rules and regulations when processing documents
  • Experience performing multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and remaining calm, organized, and accurate
  • Experience working positively and productively in a team environment
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Work

Hours

Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
