Accounting Technician 1 – Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. No Cover Letter Required!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 12.

This position is located in Juneau. It may be relocated within Alaska with necessary approvals where infrastructure allows.

What You Will Be Doing:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated professional to join our team in supporting the Division’s financial operations. The Accounting Technician 1 processes a high volume of payments to vendors and program participants. This position is responsible for researching transactions in the Division’s case management system as well as the State accounting system, and provides guidance to field staff regarding fiscal policies and practices.

Located in downtown Juneau, our office sits at the base of the Juneau‑Douglas Bridge, offering convenient access, plenty of parking, and proximity to Overstreet Park and the scenic Whale Walk. Your spacious workstation is equipped with dual monitors and an ergonomic setup, supporting both comfort and productivity. This position also offers the potential for a hybrid telework schedule following the successful completion of a 6‑month probationary period.

  • Accounting Operations: Knowledge of general ledger accounting and the control/subsidiary account relationships and reconciliation techniques, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and disbursing officer’s accountability.
  • Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
