Position SummaryThis role is a key part of the ministerial leadership team, providing strategic oversight and hands-on support for various aspects of the ministry of First Christian Church. Responsibilities range from general supervision to involvement in day-to-day operations, depending on the specific ministry area. The Family Minister is responsible for developing, managing, and evaluating programs designed to nurture and strengthen Christ-centered families.
A central aspect of this position involves working closely with volunteers—equipping, empowering, and coordinating them to effectively fulfill the vision of Family Ministries.
Full-Time – workdays are typically Sunday-Thursday
Reports to Senior Minister
Note:
Percentages are estimates and will be defined by an individual’s giftedness, passions, and needs of the congregation.
- 35% – Youth – High School & Middle School
- Lead youth ministry by facilitating regular gatherings.
- Develop youth programming including events, schedules, communication, and curriculum.
- Provide oversight and support to volunteers.
- 30% – Children
- Work with volunteer leaders of Children’s programming.
- Contribute as member of the Family Ministry Team including management of children’s curriculum.
- Provide oversight and support to recruitment and coordination of volunteers.
- 20% – Family Engagement and Discipling
- Coordinate equipping and support of the family unit. Contribute to a holistic vision and strategy of family ministry.
- Community engagement and involvement.
- Be actively involved in the discipling of individuals.
- 15% – Other
- Attend monthly elder and board meetings.
- Serve as a contributing member of the church body through engagement, attendance, and service.
- Professional development and personal growth through external and internal relationships, study, and training.
- Willingness to preach as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the senior minister or elders.

- Related Experience
- Desire to serve Jesus in local church setting.
- Demonstrated Biblical understanding.
- Demonstrated strong biblical character (1 Timothy 4:12)
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred
- Post-Secondary Degree and/or Ministry Experience
- Experience overseeing volunteers
- Experience working with youth/children/families
