Facility Maintenance Technician II: 2nd Shift

Foot Locker is looking for a Facility Maintenance Technician II for the 2nd Shift. This role covers general and preventive maintenance of the entire service center along with support to junior technicians.

Overview

The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and upkeep of the entire service center. Responsibilities include maintaining all facility/material handling equipment and ground equipment through preventive maintenance schedules while providing additional support to the maintenance department as required. Sunday – Thursday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm. Employee health is our #1 priority, so we provide on‑site social distancing, PPE, and sanitizing stations.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair extensive electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems (e.g., PLC malfunctions, transformer failures, VFD diagnostics, shoe/tilt tray sorter repairs, servo motor troubleshooting, cardboard baler service, etc.).
  • Ensure all assigned equipment is fully operational at the beginning of the shift, checking for damage and reporting all damages or malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
  • Operate lift trucks, maintenance equipment, ground equipment, and company vehicles.
  • Perform extensive maintenance procedures, including daily preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment; clean equipment.
  • Properly follow Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out actions while working on equipment.
  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures; use required PPE (safety glasses, arc‑flash suits, respirators, fall protection).
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Support junior technicians with basic facility/grounds maintenance (basic plumbing, yard work, light‑bulb replacement, drywall repair, HVAC checks, cleaning, floor repairs).
  • Support junior technicians with troubleshooting and repair of basic electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems (e.g., belt tracking, sensors, chain alignment and tension, replace/repair gear boxes/motors, electrical overloads, blown fuses, broken mac valves, etc.) and analyze/repair basic system/material handling equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to read, write, conduct business‑related mathematics, analyze data, and utilize a CMMS as required.
  • Bring problems to the attention of the supervisor, manager, safety director or HR manager.
  • Follow daily procedures and protocols set forth in job orientation and training.
  • All other duties as assigned; willing to use industrial power tools such as welders, bandsaws, lathes, presses, bench grinders, etc.
  • Effectively communicate/interact amicably with associates, team members, supervisors, and managers.
Qualifications
  • Physical demands: standing, kneeling, stooping, using stairs, reaching, pulling, climbing ladders, and moving weights of 0–25 lb constantly; 25–40 lb occasionally; over 40 lb seldomly with or without assistance as needed.
  • Ability to move up to 40 lb at least 25 ft in distance occasionally with assistance as needed.
  • Comfortable ambulating 30–40 ft in the air.
  • Comfortable working in a fall‑protection harness.
  • Required to stand (stationary position) during scheduled hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays per labor regulations.
  • Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 5 years material‑handling equipment maintenance or 2 years material‑handling equipment maintenance with 5 years general maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC electrical, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic systems; plumbing, carpentry, PLC/material‑handling equipment systems; advanced understanding of general building maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out and OSHA safety procedures and use of PPE.
  • Basic proficiency in speaking and understanding English for safety instructions, safety drills, and emergency communication. (Foot Locker does not require employees to speak only English at work.)
Required Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous maintenance experience as described above.
