* Current Kansas Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement appropriate to the assignment on file in the Devin Center
* Health certificate on file in Devin Center
* 3-5 years teaching experience preferred, but not required

Students Grades 9-12
The Special Education teacher provides leads the creation and implementation of a specialized designed instructional program that increases opportunities for students receiving special education services in the least restrictive environment.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others.
The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Support the philosophy and vision of special education in the Geary County School District.
- Attend final general education student intervention team meetings to ensure that all documentation of the general education intervention process and response to invention documentation necessary to the evaluation process has been completed accurately.
- Monitor all referrals through the evaluation process, meet with evaluation team regularly.
4.Review IEP and Evaluation files to ensure that they meet all regulatory and district standards, are written to reflect best practice, reflect high quality programming and are implemented with integrity.
5. Submit all required documentation to the district office in a timely manner.
6.Enter accurate data into the district student information system in a timely manner.
7. Possess knowledge legal regulations governing our program.
8.Utilize data to guide the focus of student IEPs and improve student achievement.
9. Supervise, provide professional development, and coordinate the scheduling of paraprofessionals.
10. Assist with the integration of exceptional students into the general education program.
11. Keep informed regarding new technologies that facilitate and support student learning.
