Position Summary:

Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions through collaborative engineering teams. The Walmart Item Orchestrator team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic and talented group. You'll collaborate with passionate engineers to deliver a top-tier site experience that scales to handle millions of queries per second across billions of items. As a team, we innovate and build features on technologies such as Java, Rust, reactive programming, Kafka, Cassandra, caching, Resilience4J, and Kubernetes.

Our focus is on delivering high‑throughput, low‑latency systems where every millisecond matters.

• Own scoped feature and model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system objectives.
• Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
• Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and development innovation.
• Participate in solution design, evaluating trade‑offs and ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
• Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to maintain high‑quality deliverables.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor application performance and support continuous improvement through proactive testing and observability.

• Proven expertise in object‑oriented programming and documentation‑based coding practices.

• Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions aligned with platform and business objectives.
• Experience integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI tools to enhance development efficiency.
