Clinical Pharmacist – Infusion (40 hrs) – Jonesboro, GA Job Summary
Be able to monitor the medication therapy of inpatient ambulatory patients as assigned based on the understanding of patient variables such as age, gender, and other physical characteristics. Confers with and assists medical personnel in the care and treatment of these patients, provides medication information, recommends dosage and formulary changes, uses aseptic technique while compounding sterile medications in a glove box, monitors medication distribution, dispenses and distributes pharmacy products, and manages all aspects of Pyxis stations.
Promotes high quality, evidence‑based, and cost‑effective pharmaceutical care. Performs these duties in the clinical areas assigned and other duties as required. The Pharmacist has the above listed responsibilities to ensure Kaiser continues to provide quality care and service excellence.
- Monitors medication therapy of inpatient ambulatory patients to assure optimum therapeutic results and cost‑effective prescribing.
- Reviews patient progress to detect adverse drug reactions and confers with medical personnel in treatment.
- Interviews patients to obtain information regarding medication use, allergies and sensitivities; documents in the medical record.
- Advises patients on directions for use, storage, compliance, precautions and warnings.
- Provides medication information to medical personnel and makes recommendations on orders and dosage adjustments.
- Monitors effectiveness and accuracy of institutional medication distribution.
- Reviews physician orders and verifies accuracy of transcription and data entry.
- Verifies accuracy of preparation and dispensing by pharmaceutical personnel; reports discrepancies.
- Responds to medical emergencies per established procedures.
- Supports ACC/CDU and procedure suite patients; completes medication reconciliations; provides discharge medications after hours.
- Manages all aspects of Pyxis machines.
- Upholds Kaiser Permanente Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.

- Pharm D or Bachelor of Science in pharmacy.
- Pharmacist License (Georgia) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of current pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles, medical terminology, pathologies and disease states, and the ability to relate this information to the patient's medical management plan.
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to prepare sterile IV products.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
- Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient or other sources and relate it to the patient's medical management plan.
- Ability to type medication labels.
- Ability to teach and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.
- Comprehensive knowledge of emergency medications; ability to become CPR‑certified.
- Consistently demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, our members, contracted providers and vendors.
