Overview
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse is to provide professional care while assuming responsibility and accountability for a group of Emergency Department patients, by providing direct and indirect care through the continued utilization of the nursing process in collaboration with other health team members. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility with a minimum of supervision. To triage safely, rapidly, and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system.
Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with Emergency Department physician about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
- Provide professional nursing care to a group of Emergency Department patients using the nursing process in collaboration with the health care team.
- Triage patients safely, rapidly, and accurately on entry to the emergency care system and determine priorities of care based on needs and patient flow.
- Communicate changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results to the Emergency Department physician; respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
- Associates degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid and active RN license in good standing in the state of Arkansas.
- ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and BLS certifications.
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach.
