Position Summary

The Lakeport Plantation Museum Part-Time tour guide reports directly to the Lakeport Plantation Museum Director and is responsible for assisting with tours for both groups and individuals, assisting with greeting the public and making sales in the Museum store, and from time-to-time assisting with other museum programs or operations. This position is in Lake Village, Arkansas.

• Welcomes members of the public
• Learns the standard museum tour and gives the tour to both individual guests and groups
• Makes sales in the museum store
• Assists with basic museum tasks (such as answering the phone or cleaning) in between tour times
• From time to time, assists in other museum programs or operations
• Other duties as assigned

• Ability to learn and give a guided tour
• Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact with the public in a tourism capacity
• Basic understanding of sales
• Ability to learn and operate a standard point of sale system

The Part-Time Tour Guide will work a maximum of 20 hours during the regular working hours of the Museum:
Monday–Saturday 8 AM – 5 PM.

Special Job Dimensions:
Occasional weekend and evening duty is required for special on‑site events and coordination of facilities rentals.

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma and two (2) years of work experience in a related field.

Preference will be given to applicants with the formal education equivalent of an earned Bachelor’s Degree in Museum Studies, History, Education, Literature, Management, or a related field.

Other job‑related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.
