Overview
Founded in 1982 as Joliet Area Community Hospice, Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care is an independent, nonprofit healthcare provider licensed in 11 counties in northwest Illinois. We provide exceptional serious illness care, hospice care and grief support for adults and children.
The majority of our direct patient care is in the field with Lightways team members providing care in the home, nursing facility or assisted living facility. We also have a 20-bed inpatient unit in Joliet. Non-clinical staff are based out of our Joliet administrative offices.
ResponsibilitiesThe Quality Compliance RN is responsible for conducting clinical documentation reviews, medical record audits and data analysis to ensure compliance with hospice regulatory and accreditation standards. This role coordinates documentation for admissions, recertifications to support patient eligibility, and adherence to state/federal guidelines. The Quality Compliance RN contributes to performance improvement through timely hospice quality reporting, patient event, and fall reviews, Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) follow up and clinical documentation audits.
QualificationsThe successful candidate will be a RN with a minimum two years of recent work experience as a professional nurse, preferably in a hospice setting and medical record review. Candidates should also possess the following skills:
- Demonstrates expertise in nursing practice and terminal care, including pain and symptom management.
- Able to communicate effectively with clinical staff, management, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
- Proficient in auditing clinical documentation using complex analysis and prepares clear reports with findings and recommended follow-up actions.
- Able to identify discrepancies in data and draw inferences from complex clinical and compliance information.
- Possesses current knowledge of hospice regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs).
- Proficient in using electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
