Job Purpose

To accept and schedule customer orders to ensure customer satisfaction and provide administrative support as required by personnel in the Transport Operations Department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Enter customer orders and scan/index documents.
  • Schedule pickups and delivery of customer loads.
  • Document orders in computer and update customer contact information.
  • Maintain communications with customers regarding schedule changes and potential service failures.
  • Understand RJW’s goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate customer problems, leads, and inquiries to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company information.
  • Recommend and implement approved improvements.
  • Update reports as required by operations manager and COO.
  • Assist local dispatcher in updating Tee Cards.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.

  • Computer abilities including word processing, spreadsheets, and ability to learn RJW application software.
Qualifications
  • Basic office clerical skills.
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
  • 1–2 years of clerical experience.
  • Basic transportation/logistics experience.
Education And/or Experience Required
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Language Skills Sets
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.
Mathematical Skills
  • Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure.
  • Compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Solving practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Interpreting instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Determining root causes and corrective actions.
Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
  • Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Activating phone systems with keyboard and button use.
  • Articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Indoor office environment; repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing.
  • Work over 8 hours continuously when required.
  • Handle stressful situations, maintain accuracy, multitask.
  • Visual acuity of 20/20 (corrected).
  • Clear telephone communication.
  • Positive physical health as certified by a licensed physician; no controlled substance use.
Work Environment
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and fumes/airborne particles.
  • Noise level ranges from quiet to moderately loud.
