In this position, you will harness your deep understanding of engineering principles to tackle complex technical challenges and ensure that all work adheres to federal construction standards tailored to meet client needs. You’ll operate independently with minimal supervision, exercising initiative, sound engineering judgment, and outstanding communication skills to effectively collaborate with contractors, government clients, and diverse project teams.
Job Duties- Serve as the technical liaison among federal government clients, design branches, construction branches, and contractors.
- Examine design submittals, shop drawings, specifications, RFIs, and technical reports for compliance with federal standards and client expectations.
- Implement engineering principles and relevant codes throughout various phases including planning, design, construction administration, and assessment.
- Track project progress while generating detailed technical and status reports.
- Provide engineering judgments for field modifications, non-conformance issues, value engineering proposals, and constructability reviews.
- Ensure adherence to guidelines and regulations, delivering necessary technical documentation.
- Aid in the creation of cost estimates while coordinating with government estimators and contracting officers.
- Engage in pre-construction meetings, progress reviews, and project closeout activities.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to validate compliance with contract requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineering personnel, promoting best practices within the team.
- Build and uphold strong client relationships through effective communication and technical support.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically and potentially internationally.
- PE (Professional Engineer) License or RA (Registered Architect) is highly desired.
- Certification in Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety training.
- Experience with federal or DoD projects (NAVFAC, USACE, or Air Force CE) is a strong asset.
- Exposure to both vertical construction (buildings/facilities) and horizontal projects (utilities, transportation, airfields).
- Proficient in interpreting design documents and specifications.
- Experience with project scheduling tools like Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Strong understanding of federal contracting standards (FAR/DFARS) and government design/construction processes.
