Principal Engineer-TULIP

We have a full-time Principal Engineer opportunity available with our client in East Providence, RI. This individual will provide deep technical leadership across the post-purchase domain, owning end-to-end architectural direction and enabling multiple teams to deliver quickly and efficiently. The role will balance scaling current systems while driving an iterative migration away from legacy components. Experience with Tulip applications is highly desirable.

Salary range: $155,000–$200,000 plus a generous benefits package.

• Provide domain leadership and technical strategy by partnering with cross-functional leaders to define the architectural roadmap across manufacturing (IMFG, Tulip applications), fulfillment, shipping, and customer support tooling.
• Lead cross-team initiatives that improve scale, reliability, and delivery—driving increased throughput, lowering cost to serve, and enhancing system observability across the “buy to delivered” lifecycle to reduce WISMO (Where Is My Order) inquiries and manual intervention.
• Enable data and tooling coherence by helping deliver a 360° order view for Customer Support and Operations through standardized data pipelines and surfaced insights via Backstage and related platforms.
• Provide governance, facilitation, and mentorship to Staff and Senior Engineers; lead design reviews and workshops, resolve technical challenges, and align stakeholders on pragmatic, high-impact solutions.

• Proven track record shaping architecture and delivery for complex post-purchase, manufacturing, or adjacent domains at scale (order orchestration, fulfillment, shipping, returns, and CS tooling).
• Expertise in designing service and event contracts, data flows, and reliability patterns that allow multiple teams to build and release safely and efficiently.
• Strong facilitator able to align Operations, Customer Support, Product, and Engineering stakeholders while translating architectural decisions into measurable business outcomes.
• Comfortable balancing long-term modernization efforts with tactical scaling in live production environments.
• Experience collaborating with distributed teams across multiple time zones.

• Experience with manufacturing execution systems, batching and scheduling algorithms, and warehouse or dispatch integrations.
• Background migrating e-commerce platforms and improving customer support experiences through unified data and actionable tooling.
