Responsibilities- Participate as a multicrop/multifunction team member for all SPD, Biotech, and other functional accountability. Detailed in Corn, Soy, Wheat, Cropping Systems, etc.
- Operate research equipment for planting and harvesting.
- Able to scout fields, focusing on agronomy pests and diseases.
- Able to work with team members in driving regional scouting teams.
- Be able to communicate effectively with all team members/stakeholders to understand both agronomic deadlines and other functional groups' deadlines.
- Work across the Johnston team functions to support other activities at the site/along with support of other assigned research projects.
- Assist with research center projects and research seed production activities, including seed preparation for planting, winter nursery deadlines, and other overall support for the research center to be successful. These are critical times for the success of the research program, so weekend work and overtime may be required during peak period (April/May, Sept/Oct).
- Willingness to manage other employees, interns, and assistants.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful work environment.
- Shipping support until planting and after harvest.
- Regulated Trial support (estimated 10%).
- Experience in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or experience with a research seed company.
- Technologically Savvy:
Competency with standard Microsoft Office programs and the capacity to learn new technologies and software. Handling large volumes of data will be required. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with diverse groups of people. - Results Driven:
Self‑motivated and ability to initiate projects, improvements, decisions, and problem‑solving. Detail‑oriented, strong time management and organizational skills. - Safety Oriented:
Commitment to excellent safety and risk management practices. - Equipment Oriented:
Able to learn and drive research combine, tractor, and planter.
