Laboratory and Greenhouse Pathology Assistant

Job Description

Assist technical personnel in general laboratory and greenhouse pathology operations. Perform routine laboratory, horticultural, or plant pathology tasks in support of scientific research, primarily within the plant pathology group. Work with plants and horticulture, executing tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

Responsibilities

* Assist in general laboratory and greenhouse operations.

* Perform routine laboratory, horticultural, or plant pathology tasks.

* Support scientific research efforts in the plant pathology group.

* Work with plants and horticulture according to accepted methods.

Essential Skills

* Proficiency in PCR, DNA extraction, and RNA extraction.

* Experience in gene cloning and molecular biology.

* Knowledge of plant pathology and qPCR.

* Skill in plant care, prepping buffers, and cell cultures.

* Familiarity with pipetting, greenhouse operations, and electrophoresis.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Possess a BS Degree in Biological or Plant Sciences.

Work Environment

Work typically occurs Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Some tasks may require additional hours or flexibility in scheduling.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Johnston, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
