Overview
This role involves managing the molecular pipeline in the diagnostic lab and performing physical labor in the Inoculum Production lab. The position requires working with various bacteria, fungi, plant pathogens, and employing sterile and aseptic techniques. During the summer, responsibilities will focus entirely on the diagnostic lab.
Responsibilities- Run the molecular pipeline in the diagnostic lab.
- Perform physical labor in the Inoculum Production lab.
- Work with different bacteria, fungi, and plant pathogens.
- Utilize sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Culture and run assays using ELISA or PCR.
- Conduct DNA/RNA extractions.
- Use microscopy to identify pathogens.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Read assays and interpret results.
- Associate degree in biotechnology is acceptable.
- Bachelor s degree in biology, biochemistry, genetics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year lab experience outside of school, or significant college lab experience.
The work environment includes training with the team, with the ability to lift up to 40 pounds. The lab handles a wide variety of plant species including corn, soybean, wheat, and sorghum. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexible start and end times, but consistency is required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Johnston, IA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
