Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator
. This position plays a key role in bringing Life Serve Blood Center’s mission, strategic plan, and results-oriented priorities to life. This role is responsible for developing, creating, and managing marketing and public relations initiatives, enhancing programs to increase visibility in the community, as well as increasing blood donations for Life Serve Blood Center.
This position will collaborate with the PR & marketing team and other internal or external stakeholders to shape communications, conceptualize and create marketing and PR content, and build replicable community partnerships that advance Life Serve’s mission. This position may also plan, organize, and coordinate large blood collection events throughout Life Serve’s service area.
To be considered for this position, applicants must be within a reasonable commuting distance to Johnston, IA; hybrid work schedule will be available after training has been completed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Develops marketing programs, initiatives, and tactics to increase visibility for the organization that lead to strong community engagement, support, and increased blood donations.
- Creates content and communications, both internal and external, that advance the reputation and reach of Life Serve in the communities it serves. This includes writing and distributing press releases and internal communications.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, chambers of commerce, and other groups to organize, host, and/or support special events and/or blood drives.
- Works collaboratively with recruitment team members to strategically develop and implement new programs for targeted demographics and audiences that lead to increases in first-time blood donors.
- Assists with public relations efforts, which include serving as a media spokesperson and community liaison to propel the visibility of the organization.
- Assists with finding and creating blood recipients and donor stories and content for public relations and marketing purposes.
- Collaborates with team members on social media and digital marketing campaigns, including planning and creating storytelling content.
- Works collaboratively with all team members and volunteers across the entire organization.
- Ability to self‑direct, meet deadlines, establish priorities, and be strategic.
- Holds a current driver’s license and has a motor vehicle report meeting insurability requirements required.
- Maintains confidentiality of Life Serve Blood Center donors, team members, financial/proprietary records, and other information at all times.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, etc.) and a willingness to engage in learning other software.
- Working knowledge and experience working on a computer system required.
- Experience in establishing, building, and maintaining key relationships.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, advertising, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field;
- An associate’s degree in business, marketing, advertising, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field,
AND
a minimum of 2 years of job experience in business, marketing, advertising, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field;
- A minimum of 4 years of job experience in business, marketing, advertising, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field.
