The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Specialist will manage the planning, visualization, and computer modeling of building projects to support estimating, business development, marketing, and operations. They will work closely with internal and external partners to collect, review, and create building and logistics models. This individual will research and be familiar with emerging technologies in the industry to keep Henning Companies at the forefront of the ever‑evolving industry and its use of technology.

  • Manage the reality capture process i.e. 3D laser scan, Matteport, photos, and drone, working in the field as required
  • Independently produce 2D and 3D‑construction models from base information using software such as SKETCHUP, REVIT, TEKLA and AUTOCAD
  • Advise team on site logistics with an educated understanding of the project from available design/drawing information, communications with construction team, MEP engineers, designers or other means necessary
  • Become a trusted resource for all facets of VDC
  • Provide basic support for all departments as needed, along with other assigned duties
Drive Innovation
  • Requires continuous improvement mindset and creative thinking; lead & participate in continuous improvement of processes to eliminate waste and improve customer experience
  • Champion the evaluation and selection of correct software, upgrades, processes, relationships, and the use of VDC/BIM company wide
  • Manage all VDC processes and improvements, including training and coaching of team members from all departments as necessary to uphold the integrity of the project
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction preferred or related industry experience preferred
  • 3+ years construction experience required
  • Solid knowledge of construction principles and practices required
  • Effective contributor and team player, which can plan and organize a team with the capacity to motivate and boost morale
  • Exceptional communication and effective listening skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and design software required
Travel Expectations
  • Occasional overnight travel expected by plane or car
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently in an office environment
  • Frequent activities of office environment include sitting, standing, walking, typing and other computer work, using telephone and other standard office equipment
  • Occasional activities of office environment include balancing, bending/stooping, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion
