Word Press Developer at Ntara

Ntara seeks a skilled Word Press Developer with strong experience in developing custom Word Press themes and plugins, utilizing modern PHP standards, and integrating Word Press with external systems. We require a collaborative team player capable of working cross-functionally across multiple departments to deliver high-quality digital experiences for our diverse client roster.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize custom Word Press themes and plugins.
• Implement integrations between Word Press and third-party systems (APIs, CRMs, marketing platforms, etc.).
• Build performance-focused, SEO-friendly, and accessible front-end experiences.
• Translate design files (Figma, XD, Sketch) into responsive Word Press layouts.
• Perform requirements gathering and implement technical specifications.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve platform issues.
• Provide maintenance, updates, and enhancements to existing Word Press sites.
• Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional Word Press development experience.
• Strong PHP development skills (preferably PHP 7/8).
• Experience building custom themes (from scratch) using modern standards.
• Experience developing custom plugins and extending Word Press core functionality.
• Familiarity with Word Press Gutenberg/Block Editor and custom block development.
• Experience with MySQL and database-driven applications.
• Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, Sass, and modern JavaScript.
• Proficiency with version control systems (GIT).
• Understanding of security best practices for Word Press.
• Experience working with REST APIs and webhook-based integrations.
• Comfortable managing billable and non-billable hours in a consulting environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize incoming requests across multiple teams.

• PHP, Word Press Core
• Gutenberg Block Editor & ACF (Advanced Custom Fields)
• JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks such as jQuery, Vue.js, React, or similar
• Word Press hosting platforms (e.g., WP Engine, etc.)
• SEO-friendly development, schema, and performance optimization
• cPanel, Linux environments, and server configurations
• Knowledge of Web Accessibility Standards (WCAG 2+ A, AA)
• Build tools such as Webpack, Vite, or Gulp
• Microsoft Office products

• Experience with WPCLI.
• Experience with full-site editing (FSE) and block-based theme architecture.
• Experience with Woo Commerce customization.
• Strong debugging experience, including ability to read logs and decompile/minify code.
• Experience integrating Word Press with enterprise systems (PIM, DAM, ERP, CRM).
• Experience with Cloudinary, Bynder, or other DAM integrations.
• Ability to multitask and manage several projects at once.
• Experience with CI/CD workflows (Git Hub Actions, Git Lab, Bitbucket Pipelines).

• Word Press or PHP-related certifications.
• Examples of custom themes, plugins, or complex Word Press builds.
• Experience with headless Word Press architectures (React, Next.js, Vue, or similar).
• Demonstrated ability to work with undocumented APIs or complex integrations.
• Strong problem-solving ability and willingness to take ownership.
• Experience optimizing Word Press for performance, scalability, and security.
