Swim Coach – Seasonal

Summary:

The Assistant Swim Coach is responsible for leading swim team practices and lessons, promoting skill development, and fostering a positive and supportive team environment. This role involves working closely with swimmers of all skill levels to enhance their abilities while upholding the values and standards of the Atlanta Athletic Club.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Uphold and promote the mission and core values of the Atlanta Athletic Club
  • Attend all daily swim practices and weekly swim meets
  • Arrive 15 minutes before practice to prepare and organize sessions
  • Engage actively with the team during swim practices, fostering a supportive environment
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and dynamic learning atmosphere for swimmers
  • Coach both morning and afternoon swim practices
  • Assist with the Junior Swim Program, providing guidance and support
  • Help set up and organize home swim meets, including pre-meet preparations
  • Utilize heat sheets to ensure swimmers are in the correct lanes and heats
  • Take attendance and ensure swimmers are informed of their scheduled events
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of competitive swimming techniques and training methodologies
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Adaptability and a positive, team-oriented attitude
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with swim team participants and parents
Education & Certifications
  • Previous experience as a swim coach
  • American Swimming Association (ASA) coach certification
