Software Developer X4 Level 3 - Isando

The Software Developer Level 3 is a skilled developer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale applications. This role contributes to RUN stability, drives GROW enhancements and supports TRANSFORM initiatives by applying best practices and mentoring junior developers.

Key deliverables and outputs

Solution Design and Development

• Lead the design and development of medium to complex modules and features
• Ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability in developed solutions
• Align technical outputs with enterprise architecture and coding standards.

Mentorship and Team Development

• Provide guidance and support to Level 1-2 developers
• Conduct code reviews and give constructive feedback to improve quality
• Actively contribute to building team capability and knowledge sharing.

Enhancements and Optimisation (GROW)

• Deliver significant system enhancements that improve business outcomes
• Refactor and optimise code to reduce technical debt and improve efficiency
• Contribute to backlog refinement and prioritisation with product owners.

System Support and RUN Stability

• Lead resolution of complex incidents and perform root cause analysis
• Implement permanent fixes to prevent the recurrence of issues
• Ensure operational stability by proactively monitoring applications.

Contribution to Innovation and Transformation (TRANSFORM)

• Participate in cloud adoption, API development, and microservices projects
• Contribute technical expertise to modernisation and innovation initiatives
• Support migration away from legacy systems by building sustainable solutions.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with analysts, testers, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements
• Translate business needs into technical solutions with minimal supervision
• Provide input into sprint planning, capacity estimation, and delivery timelines.

Governance, Quality, and Compliance

• Ensure developed code meets governance, audit, and security requirements
• Promote the use of automated testing and continuous integration practices
• Maintain documentation to support audit and compliance processes.

Internal and External Stakeholders

The role requires close engagement and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.

Internal Stakeholders

Senior Manager:
Platform Delivery or Applications, Senior Developers and Technical Leads (L5), Enterprise Architecture, Product, Owners and Business Analysts, Dev Ops Engineers and Flow Leads, Quality Assurance/Test teams.

External Stakeholders

Software vendors and learning/training providers (where applicable)

Academic Qualifications

• NQF Level 7 Qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
• Certification in enterprise programming frameworks (e.g., .NET, Java EE)
• Valid Driver’s License.

Advantageous:

• Cloud Developer certification

Note: May be required to travel locally. May be required to work after-hours.

Work Experience

• 4-6 Year’s Professional experience in software development
• Proficiency in coding, debugging, and testing
• Strong track record in delivering complex applications
• Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and Dev Ops integration
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, and integration methods
• Proven experience with agile development methods (SAFe, Scrum, or Kanban)
• Experience in supporting enterprise-scale systems
• Exposure to microservices and containerization.

Advantageous:

• 2+ Year’s Exposure to enterprise architecture and system rationalisation
• Experience in omnichannel, CRM, or customer-facing systems.
