Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
This is a full-time on-site role for a Diesel Mechanic based in Blackheath Cape Town. As a Diesel Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. Daily tasks may involve performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting engine and mechanical issues, and ensuring systems are compliant with safety standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining detailed records of services performed and liaising with team members to ensure efficient operations.
ResponsibilitiesService mechanic – diesel. Must also have some auto electrical and hydraulics knowledge. Will be working on TLB’s, Skid steer loaders, Mobile cranes (mechanical components only – load computers and hoist ropes by others) LDV’s , 3-ton trucks and 10ton truck (all Toyota). PPE, tools, UIF and workmen's comp by company.
Qualifications- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, equipment maintenance, and mechanical repair.
- Experience with diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fault-finding for diesel vehicles and machinery.
- Proficiency in using repair tools, equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
- Relevant certification in diesel mechanics or a related field.
- Previous experience in the automotive or heavy machinery industry is a plus.
- A valid driver's license (preferably with the ability to operate heavy vehicles).
