D2C, Category Sites & B2B Platforms

Reporting to:
Head of E-commerce

Role Overview

SMD Technologies is building a suite of first-party digital platforms spanning direct-to-consumer (D2C) stores, category-led ecommerce sites, and a B2B ordering portal.

We’re looking for a hands-on operator who thrives on running online marketing, improving website performance, and watching the numbers move. You’ll actively manage campaigns, optimise traffic and conversion, and transform platforms into consistent sales engines.

You’ll coordinate internal teams and external partners to ship improvements fast, keep platforms stable, and drive commercial performance—with clear reporting into the Head of E-commerce.

What You’ll Do

Hands-On Online Marketing & Growth

Plan, launch, and optimise Google Ads campaigns (Search, Shopping, Performance Max) to drive profitable sales

Own Google Merchant Centre feed health—diagnostics, optimisation, and best-practice product feed structure

Manage GA4 and Google Tag Manager to ensure clean tracking, conversion accuracy, and actionable event data

Partner with Creative and Marketing to brief ads, offers, and landing pages that match intent and convert

Monitor performance daily and make fast, practical optimisations to improve ROI

Sales Performance & Conversion Optimisation

Drive revenue, gross profit contribution, conversion rate, AOV, and repeat purchase across D2C and category sites

Improve the full ecommerce funnel: landing pages → product pages → onsite search → cart → checkout → post-purchase

Build and run a promo and trading calendar: seasonal pushes, bundles, upsells, clearance plans, and tactical offers

Identify growth opportunities in product mix, pricing presentation, onsite merchandising, and customer journeys

Platform Management

Manage ecommerce platforms day-to-day (Woo Commerce preferred; strong experience on Magento, Shopify, or similar is acceptable)

Keep sites fast, stable, and conversion-friendly with solid SEO hygiene and clean tracking

Translate commercial needs into clear developer briefs and acceptance criteria

Coordinate updates and launches: testing, tracking validation, and post-launch monitoring

B2B Portal Adoption & Optimisation

Improve the B2B portal experience to increase adoption and reduce manual admin for sales teams

Help shape and roll out workflows and features:

Personalised pricing

Bulk ordering

Stock visibility

Order histories & reordering

Role-based access

Credit limits (where applicable)

Partner with Sales and Key Account Managers to align portal priorities to real buyer needs and commercial goals

Coordination & Delivery

No coding required but understanding of basic code / API usage is beneficial

Coordinate internal developers and external vendors—keep delivery moving

Support reliable integrations between sites/portals and SMD internal systems via APIs and connected services

Spot issues early, prioritise fixes, and remove blockers impacting sales, tracking, customer experience, or fulfilment

Reporting & Insights

Own reporting across all platforms: sales, margin, traffic, channel performance, ROI, conversion, basket metrics, customer behaviour, and site health

Maintain dashboards and produce weekly performance updates with actions and priorities

Run a steady testing loop: measure → learn → improve → repeat

Key Stakeholders

Marketing & Creative — Campaigns, assets, landing pages, content

Product Development — Range, launches, stock priorities

Sales & Key Account Managers — B2B portal adoption, trade priorities

Customer Service — Feedback and friction points

Logistics & Operations — Fulfilment performance

Dev Team & External Vendors — Delivery and fixes

What Success Looks Like

  • Paid campaigns that consistently generate profitable sales

  • Strong conversion rates and improving average order values

  • Healthy product feeds and reliable tracking with clean reporting

  • Websites that are stable, fast, and improving month-on-month

  • Growing B2B portal usage with higher order volumes and less manual intervention

  • Proactive ownership and clear communication—stakeholders always know what’s happening and what’s next
