SUMMARY
To promote and sell our comprehensive range of fire detection, suppression, and control equipment to new and existing clients in Sub‑Saharan Africa (excluding South Africa). As export sales consultant you will be the face of the company in the field, driving sales growth, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring our clients receive the best solutions for their fire safety needs. Identify objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short and long‑term sales and earnings.
Develop new vertical target markets and new key customers in line with the company’s goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to attract new business and expand the customer base.
- Build and maintain long‑term relationships with existing clients.
- Recommend appropriate solutions based on customer needs, ensuring compliance with relevant fire safety regulations and standards.
- Provide customers with quotations, product literature, stock availability and assist with account queries.
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms in line with company policies.
- Proactively follow up on statuses of quotations and orders with customers.
- Ensure account and contact information on ERP system is kept up to date.
- Provide exceptional service to ensure customer satisfaction, repeat business, and referrals.
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations.
- Stay informed about market trends, competitors, and emerging technologies in fire detection and suppression, and report findings to Sales Manager.
- Work closely with other departments, i.e., finance, administration, logistics, marketing, technical support etc. to ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded.
- Track and maintain leads, opportunities and sales pipeline on ERP system.
- Regularly report on sales activities, opportunities and market conditions to the sales manager.
- Assist with marketing activities when needed (product launches, exhibitions, etc.).
- Ensure product knowledge is maintained to be able to provide basic advice on system applications, design and first‑level technical support.
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Assist with tasks related to the company operations that might fall outside the indicated duties and responsibilities.
- Proven track record of travelling for sales or business development activities in Africa.
- Proven track record in external sales, preferably in fire safety, security, or related industries.
- Strong understanding of fire detection, suppression, and control systems (or a willingness to quickly learn the technical aspects of the products).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage clients at all levels.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Self‑motivated and target‑driven with a passion for achieving sales goals.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel as required.
- Two to three years’ experience in sales in either of the following sectors: fire safety, security, information technology, construction, technology, electrical, electronic, mechanical, or engineering.
- Technical background or experience in selling technical equipment.
