Position: Fabrication and Welding Quality Manager (Sheet Metal Manufacturing)
Location:

Wynberg, JHB

Requirements:
  • Qualification in Quality Management/Industrial Engineering/Mechanical Engineering
  • Proven experience in Quality Management or Quality Assurance aligned with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 3834 standards
  • 5-10 years of experience within a similar role within a sheet metal manufacturing/welding environment (non-negotiable)
  • Experience with ERP software (e.g., SAP) is an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes and characteristics.
  • Ability to perform detailed inspections of coatings and painting applications is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of welding inspections, welding qualifications and related NDE methods.
  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance methodologies and standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Must be able to read technical drawings (CAD/CAM)
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining quality control processes, conducting audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product and service quality across the company.
  • The Quality Manager will work closely with senior management to uphold and advance the company’s quality standards, with a strong focus on welding procedure qualification, welder/welding qualifications, and inspection processes.
  • Establish, develop, implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyse quality performance metrics.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Track products through the manufacturing process to identify deviations from quality standards.
  • Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Investigate quality issues, determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with the Management to integrate safety and quality processes.
  • Manage non-conformance reports and corrective action processes.
  • Perform and oversee both routine and non-routine quality inspections.
  • Prepare, maintain and control quality documentation, including quality plans, inspection checklists and product traceability records.
  • Train, mentor and support staff on quality standards, inspection techniques and company procedures.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure quality standards are met throughout the production process.
