Top electronics manufacturer seeks Quality Specialist. Turnaround quality issues in the business. Hands-on person.

At least 5 years experience in electronics and PCB manufacturing

At least 3 years experience in a quality management role in electronics and PCB manufacturing – this must specifically include effective quality improvement products

In depth understanding of quality metrics that specifically apply to electronics and PCB manufacturing

What the person must be able to do:

This role is in the South African metal products manufacturing industry. All duties would take place in this context.

Address supplier quality issues

Significantly reduce rework time

Implement TQM

Manufacturing process improvement

People skills and interdepartmental harmonisation skills

Key Job Deliverables (First 6-12 Months):

Address supplier quality issues. Currently PCB boards have a failure rate of 15-30%. Get this down to 5% within 6 months and 1% within 12 months.

20% of available hours are being spent on rework. Get this down to 5% within 6 months and 1% within 12 months.

Implement TQM quality practices in the business (Not a paper exercise)

Implement managed SLA’s with suppliers which includes test certifications

Implement Electronics PCB test jigs and equipment at suppliers

Background work experience

5+ years experience in electronics and PCB manufacturing

3+ years experience in a quality management role in electronics and PCB manufacturing – this must specifically include effective quality improvement products

ISO or Six Sigma Qualification

Diploma or Degree in Electronics

Proven track record in quality projects (we will check references)

Strong interpersonal skills
