- Job Summary    We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Akeso Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care within our mental health and psychiatric facilities. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing interventions for patients with a range of mental health conditions, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

- Job Responsibilities      Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including mental state examinations, risk assessments, and physical health assessments, for patients admitted to Akeso facilities.
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, their families, and the multidisciplinary team, ensuring adherence to best practices and Netcare protocols.
Administer prescribed medications, monitor for adverse effects, and educate patients and families on medication regimens.
Provide therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy support, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques, within your scope of practice.
Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, ensuring all documentation complies with regulatory standards and Netcare policies.
Monitor and observe patient behaviour, reporting any significant changes or concerns to the appropriate medical staff.
Collaborate effectively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, coping strategies, and discharge planning.
Adhere to all infection control policies, safety regulations, and ethical guidelines.
Participate in continuous professional development and training to maintain and enhance nursing skills and knowledge.
---    Job Qualifications      Current and valid registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse.
A Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
Previous experience (minimum 2 years) working in a psychiatric or mental health setting is highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of mental health conditions, psychiatric medications, and therapeutic interventions.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and empathy skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Sound judgment and critical thinking skills, particularly in crisis situations.
Proficiency in computer skills for electronic patient record management.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, as required by the facility.
