Brand Manager – Neurosciences

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Brand Manager Neurosciences position based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

About Neuroscience

Our Neuroscience team tackles complex brain health challenges, including MS, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, epilepsy, major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and autism. We focus on developing treatments, finding cures, and championing patients every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market Research: Seek advantages/disadvantages of MR instruments and types of research (quantitative and qualitative) and apply this knowledge to seek strategic insights.
  • Forecasting (including sales): Manage customer/marketplace parameters and forecasting models to deliver brand financial expectations.
  • Sales and Market Data Analytics: Identify best practices and gaps in brand and customer performance using all data resources; strengthen strategy and enhance decision making.
  • Reporting: Deliver comprehensive, timely reports related to sales and marketing.
Brand Strategy
  • Global branding – vision and value proposition: Contribute to global branding, highlight issues to senior management.
  • Segmentation and mindset: Understand segmentation approaches and their interplay with payer, prescriber, and patient segments.
  • Brand positioning: Develop, execute, and measure brand positioning strategies in line with IBVT.
Customer and Marketplace Focus
  • Market dynamics and evolution: Dissect market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and analyze competitor trends.
  • KOL Development and Customer Insight: Build on KOL insights locally and globally; develop a comprehensive understanding of the customer/patient journey.
  • Geographic, cultural, and market insights: Understand different market needs to inform planning.
  • Patient/Customer insights: Identify unique needs and underlying drivers of motivation.
  • Brand equity: Plan for changes in brand equity dimensions due to marketplace changes.
  • Pricing and reimbursements: Knowledge of systems across industry/geographies.
  • Innovation and digital skills: Find innovative approaches to customer/process issues; leverage digital assets.
  • Budgeting: Manage portfolio budgets to deliver P&L commitment; invest for brand impact.
Role Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or diploma.
  • 5+ years of progressive commercial experience in the pharmaceutical sector, with a strategic mindset.
  • Experience in ownership, driving business initiative, and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Proven track record leading teams, fostering diversity and inclusion, and influencing without authority.
  • Experience managing brands in competitive environments.
  • Experience in the assigned therapeutic area is an advantage.
  • Self‑starter with urgency; interacts comfortably with senior stakeholders across all levels.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally.
