Head of Corporate & Business Development – Johannesburg.
The Head of Corporate & Business Development provides strategic and operational leadership to drive PEG’s long-term growth and transformation in the fuel and retail sector.
This role combines Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), corporate strategy, new project development, network upgrades/revamps, and market innovation — ensuring every initiative is delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with all regulations.
The position is central to deal execution, change management, and the seamless integration of acquisitions into PEG’s operations.
Salary: R75 000 – R108 000 per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Growth & Corporate Development
- Formulate and execute PEG’s growth and corporate development strategy in line with business objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate M&A opportunities, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships in the downstream fuel and retail sectors.
- Lead deal execution from due diligence and risk assessment to valuation, structuring, and post-merger integration.
- Provide strategic guidance to the Managing Director and EXCO on investments, acquisitions, and capital allocation.
- Research, Market Analysis & Business Intelligence
- Conduct market and industry research to monitor competitor activities, regulatory changes, and consumer trends.
- Translate market insights into growth strategies, project opportunities, and innovative service offerings.
- Prepare detailed reports and board-level presentations to support executive decision-making.
- New Project Development & Capital Investments
- Lead the development of project implementation plans ensuring technical, financial, and operational feasibility.
- Oversee the maintenance, improvement, and evaluation of project plants and facilities.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within approved budgets, with strict cost control and ROI discipline.
- Manage and coordinate service providers, contractors, and consultants, ensuring adherence to performance and delivery standards.
- Acquisition Integration & Change Management
- Lead the implementation and operational integration of new acquisitions.
- Champion change management initiatives to ensure smooth cultural and operational alignment.
- Collaborate with site partners to ensure business continuity and sustainable performance post-acquisition.
- Governance, Compliance & ESG / Sustainability
- Oversee corporate governance and regulatory reporting to the Managing Director, EXCO, and Board.
- Ensure full compliance with environmental, legal, and corporate standards, including ESG requirements.
- Implement robust risk management frameworks across all projects and transactions.
- Promote sustainability initiatives supporting environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
- Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build and mentor a high-performing, cross-functional team across strategy, finance, and operations.
- Foster collaboration across internal teams and maintain strong relationships with external partners, suppliers, and regulators.
- Represent PEG at industry bodies, investor meetings, and strategic forums to strengthen market positioning.

Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).
- 10–15 years’ senior leadership experience within downstream oil & gas, fuel retail, or related consumer‑energy sectors.
- Proven expertise in M&A deal execution, strategic development, and capital project delivery.
- Strong background in financial modelling, risk management, and cross‑functional leadership.
- Demonstrated success managing large, complex capital budgets and multi‑site operations.
- Skilled negotiator with advanced experience in stakeholder engagement and executive communication.
