Litigation Associate Director

About the Role

A reputable niche law firm with offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban is seeking a highly skilled Litigation Associate Director to join its Johannesburg office. They are looking for a self-starter, a strong leader, and a seasoned legal professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision while managing complex legal matters and engaging key clients.

Key Performance Areas

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in:

• Commercial litigation
• Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
• Administrative law, insolvency law, and business rescue law
• Tax law litigation
• General civil litigation
• Conducting investigations and drafting detailed legal reports
• Working with public and private sector clients
• Delivering high-quality, accurate legal work under pressure
• Professional client engagement and critical legal analysis
• Managing complex legal matters independently
• Applying strong business acumen and translating legal risk into strategic business decisions

Minimum Requirements

• Admitted Attorney with a valid practising certificate
• Minimum 9+ years PQE
• Right of Appearance in the High Court
• Demonstrated leadership and management capability
• Highly organised with exceptional follow-through abilities
• Passion for developing junior legal professionals
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and proactive mindset
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and manage heavy workloads
• Flexibility to work beyond standard business hours when required
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals
• Comfortable working in a culturally diverse environment
• Strong capability to review and interpret complex legal documents under strict deadlines
