Summary:
This role requires advanced stakeholder management skills, working closely with multiple markets and business units to understand existing data governance processes and recommend improvements where required. The role partners with various departments to identify data-related challenges, develop governance policies and standards, and enable data-driven decision-making.
Contract Details: 12 months.
Location:
Midrand.
You will collaborate with functional data owners, data stewards, and data champions across the organisation to drive compliance and resolve data quality issues within assigned data domains. The role plays a critical part in maintaining high standards of data integrity and supporting the organisation7s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Monitoring Compliance: Enforce data governance policies across the organisation to ensure data is managed securely and effectively. Responsible for completing quarterly compliance assessments and ensuring all required evidence is gathered.
- Data Quality by Design: Partner with business stakeholders to design and implement data quality rules across multiple source systems, including cloud-based data platforms. Ensure data quality is embedded during the design phase to proactively prevent issues.
- Data Ownership: Facilitate regular training sessions to promote strong data ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with Security and Privacy teams to ensure adherence to data governance policies. Work closely with business leaders, data analysts, and IT teams to identify data requirements and align governance initiatives with business goals. Build strong relationships with data owners and data stewards to ensure clarity of roles and remediation actions.
- Support to Subsidiaries: Assist subsidiaries in complying with data governance policies by sharing tools, methodologies, and best practices. Conduct policy compliance reviews to ensure consistent governance standards across all entities.
- Education: Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Digital Transformation, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 8–10 years professional experience, with data governance experience highly advantageous.
- Project Management: Proven track record in managing projects involving multiple stakeholders, delivering on time and within scope.
- Data Visualisation: Hands-on experience with Qlik Sense, including the creation of dashboards and reports to support governance initiatives.

Skills:
Experience with Ab Initio as a data governance enablement tool is beneficial. - Industry
Experience:
Experience with in the telecommunications sector is advantageous but not essential.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to senior stakeholders and translate complex governance concepts into practical insights.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical capability to identify data quality issues and implement sustainable solutions to improve data integrity.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage data governance programmes, coordinate cross-functional teams, and maintain compliance.
- Reporting: Expertise in producing detailed compliance and governance reports and tracking remediation progress.
- Data Governance Expertise: Solid understanding of data governance frameworks and principles, with hands-on tool experience preferred.
- Process Improvement: Ability to identify, design, and implement improvements to data governance processes and procedures.
