Job Summary

Investigate and document relevant business requirements for potential opportunities, solutions and problem solving with the appropriate business and/or technological solutions which will meet the business requirements.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities
  • Requirements Planning
    • Identify stakeholders who need to be involved in the decision, who will be consulted regarding the solution and who will be informed of the approach and rationale for using it.
    • Determine and contract with the Project Manager the business analysis activities and deliverables to be produced.
    • Estimate the effort required and identify management tools to measure progress of activities and deliverables.
    • Determine the communications plan and schedule for business analysis activities. Record and organize activities to set expectations for business analysis work, meetings, walkthroughs, and other communications.
    • Define the process to approve requirements for implementation and manage changes to the solution or requirements scope.
  • Requirements Elicitation
    • Identify and understand the current business state, processes, rules, policies, and designs relating to the project by engaging with identified stakeholders at all levels.
    • Utilize industry-proven elicitation techniques to derive envisaged changes to the current business domain, thereby defining the future business domain which will form the objectives, goals and deliverables of the project. (Techniques usage varies by project size and complexity)
    • Techniques include, but are not limited to: interviews, interface analysis, JAD/workshops, brainstorming/focus groups, prototypes, surveys, and a project glossary to ensure clear terminology.
  • Business Analysis Scoping and Design
    • Determine the project purpose and major objectives to deliver a successful project.
    • Perform GAP Analysis between the As-Is and To-Be solutions to identify required work.
    • Define what is in scope and out of scope to prevent scope creep.
    • Assess business impacts via workshops to ensure comprehensive coverage for implementation.
    • Set project objectives with Subject Matter Experts and Project Sponsor based on SMART principles.
    • Identify opportunities and threats to avoid surprises on implementation.
    • Identify risks and issues related to requirements scope and mitigate them by implementation time.
    • Propose a future design based on scope and elicited information.
    • Design or deliver new processes, rules and policies to communicate changes to stakeholders.
    • Ensure alignment with other Bank initiatives to avoid duplication.
  • Requirements Definition Structuring & Specification
    • Design the “to be” business architecture using best practice design principles and document with accepted tools to structure requirements.
    • Identify interfaces and integration points for integrated functional specifications through workshops with IT and stakeholders.
    • Document functional and non-functional specifications to ensure stakeholder requirements are met.
    • Develop a functional decomposition of identified requirements with stakeholder input.
    • Obtain quotations and prepare stage business cases to meet funding requirements.
    • Manage baselining and changes of requirements via the change request process.
  • Key Stakeholder Management
    • Manage relationships with key stakeholders to ensure business requirements are addressed.
    • Present business cases, recommendations, requirements and proposed solutions to ensure understanding of the effort and solution.
    • Facilitate workshops to obtain a detailed understanding of the problem or requirement.
    • Manage the business analysis work stream per the business analysis plan.
  • Validation & Verification
    • Verify test cases and results to ensure sufficient test scenarios are documented and executed.
