OverviewRole:
Manager of Risk & Compliance for E-Commerce and Digital Lifestyle Services. This role offers an opportunity to shape the future of digital financial services while ensuring compliance, security, and operational excellence. Voda Pay is an e-commerce Super App ecosystem with multiple mini-apps and digital lifestyle services such as Direct Charge to Bill (DCB) and WASP products and services. The role leads and embeds risk and compliance frameworks across Voda Pay and Digital Lifestyle Services, aligning with regulatory standards and Vodacom Group policies to enable secure and compliant digital innovation.
The role proactively identifies, assesses, and mitigates risks and embeds a strong compliance culture across digital financial services and lifestyle platform products and services.
- Regulatory and Legislative Compliance Monitoring: Establishing a compliance and governance fintech framework for the E-Commerce Vodapay Super App and Digital Lifestyle Services across Vodacom Financial and Digital Services, including local/international suppliers and consumers.
- Engage with various departments to embed cyber security, data security and data governance into the E-commerce and digital business.
- Support commercial discussions with local and international third-party suppliers/providers. Translate and embed PASA, ICASA, WASPA, POPIA and CPA requirements into business processes.
- Develop robust third-party due diligence protocols with ongoing oversight and control over third-party providers.
- Collate and analyse information from global sources to assess internal risk, governance and compliance controls; document actions and control plans and communicate to relevant stakeholders locally and across OPCOs.
- Review customer journeys and campaigns.
- Risk Management: Proactively manage risks including operational, strategic, market, IT, credit, legal and regulatory risk. Ensure high-risk items are identified and mitigated before product, service, promotion or campaign launches within Vodacom SA across the fintech landscape.
- Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators.
- Assist the business in navigating complex solutions and decisions.
- Develop risk and controls for business processes.
- Perform deep dives and investigations.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as 1st line support across the Voda Pay E-Commerce and Digital Lifestyle units. Engage with Managing Executives, Executive Heads and Product Owners. Coordinate with Group Privacy, Group Cybersecurity, Technology, Group Risk and Compliance, Vodafone AML and Privacy, and Mpesa OPCOs to create robust, customized frameworks and processes for VFS. Collaborate with other Vodacom/Vodafone OPCOs and MPesa markets to share learnings.
Engage with external regulatory stakeholders as relevant (e.g., PASA, SARB, FSCA, WASPA, IFWG).
- Training and Awareness: Assist in creating and implementing the compliance training and awareness program. Create a risk and compliance culture by identifying weaknesses in systems and processes and embedding governance principles into existing systems, products, services and processes.
- Financial Services Regulation Analysis and Documentation: Drive analysis and documentation of regulatory compliance requirements for e-commerce and digital solutions. Develop risk management plans for relevant legislation and maintain a regulatory universe (CRMP). Develop policies to support the governance framework. Conduct controls assessment and monitoring.
- Assessing the Risk of Changes to the Regulatory Environment: Identify and track changes to existing and new laws and trends locally and internationally. Perform impact analysis across business processes and systems.
- Fraud Prevention: Establish and maintain a robust fraud risk management program. Embed fraud prevention controls into online processes and conduct root-cause analysis of suspicious transactions to strengthen controls.
- The Ideal Candidate: 3-year Degree or National Diploma in BCom, LLB, BA Law, or related field; minimum 8 years of relevant experience in risk and compliance within fintech, banking or e-commerce. Experience in payments. Postgraduate or Master’s Degree is a plus.
