The HR Consultant provides a comprehensive people service across our vibrant prep school community, everything from recruitment of new staff to providing first-line resolutions on any people-related matters. This is a hands-on, high-impact role perfect for a proactive professional who thrives in a person-centred, educational environment.
Duties- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, focusing on sourcing high-calibre educators and support staff who align with the school’s values
- Manage the training landscape for all non-academic staff, which includes identifying specific skills gaps and sourcing or developing bespoke training programmes for non-academic staff
- Provide first-line resolutions on all people-related matters
- Prepare reports on key people-related metrics (e.g. staff turnover, recruitment costs, and training ROI, etc.) and use these insights to recommend improvements to HR initiatives
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HR Consultant with a passion for recruitment
- Previous experience in a school as an HR Consultant would be advantageous
- Sound understanding of South African Labour Law (LRA, BCEA) and the Skills Development Act
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR management software (e.g., Sage 300)
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to manage processes
- Ability to navigate a close-knit school environment with absolute professional integrity, ensuring that sensitive staff information remains confidential
- A willingness to work as part of a team and mentor junior members of the team
