Role Overview
GSM Systems is seeking an advanced, hands-on Odoo Specialist with strong HR domain expertise to own and continuously improve our Odoo environment on a fractional basis. This role is designed for an experienced professional who prefers outcome-driven, project-based work rather than a full-time appointment.
You will act as the functional authority for Odoo across HR and core business processes, translating HR and operational requirements into scalable, system-driven workflows. The focus is on automation, data integrity, and process effectiveness, not hours logged.
Scope of Responsibility1. Odoo Platform Optimization & Configuration
- Assess the current Odoo environment and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Configure, optimize, and maintain Odoo modules with primary focus on:
HR
:
Employees, Recruitment, Leave, Attendance, Payroll Inputs, Performance, Appraisals
Accounting & Finance:
- Order to Cash (Sales to Payment Received)
- Procure to Pay (Purchase to Payment Issued)
- Approval workflows and controls
- Document management and reporting
- Ensure system configuration reflects real business operations rather than default settings.
- Design and implement automation to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy.
2. HR Process Enablement & Compliance
- Translate HR policies and procedures into executable Odoo workflows.
- Support and enhance processes including:
- Employee lifecycle management, onboarding, changes, exits
- Leave and attendance management
- Performance management and appraisals
- Employee records, documentation, and approvals
- Ensure HR data confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with South African labour legislation.
3. Business Process Design & Integration
- Map existing HR and operational processes and redesign them for system efficiency.
- Design end-to-end workflows across HR, Finance, Operations, Projects, and Procurement.
- Strengthen integration between HR and financial and approval processes.
- Actively eliminate manual workarounds and fragmented processes.
4. Reporting, Insights & Data Governance
- Build and maintain HR and operational dashboards and reports.
- Provide leadership with reliable, real-time system insights.
- Establish and enforce consistent data standards across the organization.
- 3+ years experience as an Odoo Specialist, Consultant, or Functional Analyst.
- Hands-on experience with Odoo HR modules.
- Strong background in process mapping, workflow design, and automation.
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership in a fractional role.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills across HR, Finance, and Operations.
- High attention to data accuracy and system quality.
- Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-department environments.
- Knowledge of South African HR compliance and labour legislation.
- Experience aligning HR workflows with financial controls.
