Employee Relations Specialist

On behalf of a leading organisation within the mining sector, we are recruiting an Employee Relations Specialist to play a critical role in driving sound labour relations, ensuring legislative compliance and supporting operational stability across the business. This role is ideal for a confident ER specialist who thrives in high-risk, unionised environments and enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders.

• Implement employee relations strategies aligned to mining legislation and operational needs
• Manage complex ER cases, disciplinary processes and dispute resolution within agreed SLAs
• Lead investigations into misconduct, safety breaches and operational disputes
• Represent the organisation at CCMA, Labour Court and Bargaining Council proceedings
• Drive employment equity governance, including EE plans, reporting and committee facilitation
• Build and maintain effective relationships with trade unions, regulators and internal stakeholders
• Prepare ER analytics and trend reports to support risk mitigation and workforce planning

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology or a related field
• Postgraduate qualification in Industrial Relations (highly advantageous)
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in employee relations, with proven mining sector exposure
• Strong experience in dispute resolution, union engagement and collective bargaining
• In‑depth knowledge of labour legislation, including mining‑specific requirements
• Proven ability to manage high‑complexity cases and multiple stakeholders
