Purpose of the Job

The Clinical Associate serves as the first clinical point of contact within the Rimon Health Primary Health Care services for the community. They provide frontline primary healthcare, including triage, comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, chronic disease management and monitoring, procedures, preventative screening, digital/telehealth workflows, and structured patient education. They deliver safe, compliant, evidence-based, patient‑centred care, working closely with GPs, allied professionals, specialists, community workers and administrative staff to ensure integrated, non‑fragmented, continuity of care.

All clinical activity is performed within the HPCSA‑defined scope of practice under required supervision and regulations. This role is ideal for a motivated ClinA who values teamwork, structured clinical protocols, digital health systems, and community‑oriented care.

Role and Responsibilities Clinical Care & Triage
  • Triage of walk‑in and booked patients; perform vitals, risk assessment and acuity sorting.
  • Carry out focused and comprehensive acute and chronic consultations for adults and children under indirect GP supervision.
  • Identify red flags and elevate appropriately to GPs, allieds, or specialists.
Diagnosis & Treatment
  • Diagnose and manage common PHC conditions in line with STGs, EML and facility SOPs. Develop and monitor patient management plans and issue short sick notes as permitted.
Prescribing & Medication Management
  • Prescribe within the CA scope and EML; ensure compliance with countersignature requirements. Counsel patients on correct medication use and adherence.
Procedures & Investigations
  • Perform procedures such as wound care, suturing, IM/SC injections, IV lines, nebulisation, ECGs, rapid tests, peak flow, pap smears, immunisations and similar clinic‑level tasks.
  • Order and interpret basic investigations including urine tests, POC tests, ECGs, X‑rays and chronic disease blood test (as indicated).
Chronic Disease & Preventative Care
  • Manage chronic disease clinics (diabetes, hypertension, lipids). Provide disease monitoring and structured lifestyle counselling and self‑management support.
  • Conduct screening for BP, DM, cholesterol, frailty, cervical, breast, prostate, and colon cancer.
Patient Education & Telehealth
  • Educate patients on conditions, red flags, lifestyle and prevention (individual & group sessions).
  • Conduct limited telehealth consultations and follow‑ups/check‑ins and digital communication within scope.
MDT & Quality Improvement
  • Participate in case discussions, referrals, and interdisciplinary planning. Support closed‑loop referral processes and patient navigation.
  • Keep accurate clinical notes, complete clinical records, referral letters and sick certificates as per legal/organisational standards.
  • Participate in clinical audits, morbidity & mortality reviews, quality improvement and CPD activities. Contribute to chronic disease dashboards, preventative screening reports and KPIs.
Minimum Requirements
  • BCMP (Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice) or recognised equivalent
  • Current HPCSA registration as a Clinical Associate
  • Current BLS required (ACLS preferred)
  • 1–3 years PHC/district experience advantageous (new graduates welcome)
  • Strong digital literacy (EMR, Whats App triage, scheduling systems)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work within structured protocols and a supervised environment
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience working with the Jewish community (language skills e.g., Hebrew/Yiddish advantageous but not essential)
