SUMMARY: Pricing is either a growth lever or a silent killer. A fast-growing logistics platform is looking for a Pricing Specialist who understands delivery economics and knows how to protect margins without killing volume
. If you’ve priced routes, deliveries, fuel surcharges or logistics contracts before, this role is built for you.
POSITION INFO: Our client is a tech-enabled business operating in the on-demand, same-day and scheduled delivery space
. As the organization scales across regions, pricing accuracy and commercial discipline are critical to sustainable growth. This role sits at the core of the commercial function. You will be responsible for building and maintaining pricing models that reflect real delivery costs
, not assumptions. Working closely with operations, sales, and finance, you will ensure that pricing decisions support growth while protecting profitability. This is a highly analytical role suited to someone who understands how small pricing decisions can have massive downstream impact in high-volume logistics environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain pricing models for same-day, on-demand, scheduled and bulk deliveries
- Structure pricing based on distance, zones, vehicle type, urgency, time of day and demand
- Analyze cost drivers, including fuel, driver payouts, fleet utilization and failed deliveries
- Monitor gross margin per delivery, per client and per service line
- Identify loss‑making routes, clients or pricing rules before margins erode
- Support sales with client‑specific pricing, volume discounts, SLAs and contract proposals
- Review existing client pricing and recommend repricing where margins are under pressure
- Work closely with operations to understand true delivery costs
- Partner with finance on margin reporting and forecasting
Skills Required:
- Education: Matric (essential)
- Experience: 3–4 years’ experience in pricing, commercial analytics or revenue management
. Proven exposure to logistics, road freight, last‑mile delivery or courier environments
. Experience working with pricing structures, cost breakdowns and margin analysis. Background within logistics carriers or transport environments is highly advantageous. - Skills: Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, analysis and pricing models). Solid Microsoft Office proficiency. Strong numerical and analytical capability.
- Non‑negotiables: Commercially confident and comfortable challenging assumptions. Able to say no when pricing is commercially unsound. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume logistics environment.
