We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Internal/Counter Salesman to provide excellent customer service and generate sales by assisting customers with their inquiries, recommending the appropriate products, and ensuring a smooth and efficient sales process. The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities, including product knowledge, customer service, sales performance, stock management, administrative duties and adherence to company policies.

  • Key Responsibilities

Sales Performance - Sales against Targets, Invoice Count & Basket Size, Turnover Generated, Upselling, Credit notes

Customer Service & Communication- Emails, Phone Calls, Customer Queries, Customer Solutions.

Product Knowledge- Technical Expertise, Knowledge Growth, Code Identification.

Collections Management- Follow-Up on Collections, Customer Communication, Collections, Collection Procedures.

Stock & Inventory Control- Generate & Assign Stock Counts, Perform Accurate Counts, Discrepancy Resolution, In & Out Transfers, Spares Stock Control, Shop Soiled & Damaged Items, Discounted items, Sub locations.

Repairs & Job Management- Repairs Management, Technician Management, Customer Communication on Repairs, Stock Control on Repairs, Repair Collections, Repairs & Collections, Collection Procedures.

Daily Operations & Administrative Duties- Till Float & Daily Banking, Discount Locations, IBT Management, Facility Management

Health & Safety Compliance - Safety Procedures, Safety Checks

Time Management & Personal Growth- Productive Time Management, Task Completion, Personal Development, Teamwork

Disciplinary Record & Attendance - Timekeeping & Attendance, Disciplinary Record

Additional Duties - Petty Cash & EFT Checks, Weekly Meetings

  • Preferred Qualifications & Experience

Matric Certificate (Grade 12): A high school diploma is generally required.

Familiarity with tools, machinery, or hardware is highly advantageous.

2-3 years' experience in retail or counter sales, especially in tools or machinery, is preferred.

Experience in automotive, engineering, tools and machinery, or hardware sectors is highly valued.

Background in DIY or hardware environments is considered an advantage.
