Job Description
A medium sized construction company with offices in Johannesburg are looking for an Estimations Engineer – Renewable Energy.
Minimum requirements:
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in construction, preferably with both Client and Contractor.
• Experience working on renewable energy projects essential.
• Proven knowledge of civil, mechanical, electrical, O&M buildings and substations related to renewable energy facilities.
• Must have a completed diploma / degree in engineering – preferably Electrical.
• Understanding of FIDIC suite of contracts and bespoke Sub-EPC contract forms.
• Understanding of EPC and Sub-EPC contract execution and associated risks.
• Computer literate in MS Office Suite.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or similar.
• Knowledge of SANS 1200, 10142 and other standards related to renewable energy facilities.
• Must have on-site construction experience.
• Candidate must be willing to travel and spend time on project sites.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Evaluate incoming tender documents, specifications, and drawings to identify and develop procurement and subcontract packages.
• Define pricing and subcontracting strategy for most effective project execution.
• Prepare material take-off for the project scope for proposals.
• Check the overall accuracy of the materials take-off.
• Prepare bills of quantities and specifications
• Drafting RFQ documents for issuing to Subcontractors for pricing.
• Preparation of commercial adjudication of materials / equipment / subcontractor quotations
• Provide technical support to Procurement department.
• Compiling and Preparation of complete cost estimate in accordance with company work instructions by using norms and procedures.
• Carry out site visits as and when required.
