The OpportunityOur South Africa team seeks an experienced design engineer with construction management experience specifically focused on water infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management experience to our dynamic team working on innovative and exciting infrastructure projects across Africa. The role will be based in Tshwane to support a large bulk water supply scheme in South Africa as a Lenders Technical Advisor, ensuring timely approvals and engaging with Arup’s knowledge base to lead collaboration across a wide network of technical experts.
RoleAs a Senior Project Manager & Engineer, you will apply a broad range of engineering and project management competencies, including:
- A relevant undergraduate degree.
- Professional registration with ECSA and SACPCMP (advantageous), or other appropriate institution.
- In‑depth experience with water‑focused civil engineering projects such as pipelines, pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Sufficient experience in NEC3 contracts and project management.
- Quality control and construction contract management.
- African experience.
- Strong people skills developing relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders, and excellent written communication and report writing skills.
To assist with the appraisal and delivery of water infrastructure schemes, you will have opportunities for international experience and will contribute to Arup’s digital transformation by exploring automation and integrated digital design approaches.
