About Nova Pioneer

Nova Pioneer is a pan‑African, independent network of schools that provide high‑quality, accessible education from pre‑primary through secondary. Our unique enquiry‑based approach encourages students to ask “why” and explore the world around them. We currently operate 16 schools in South Africa and Kenya and aim to launch 100 schools across the continent in the next decade.

About the Role

We are looking for a Resident Teacher to lead the Foundation Phase classroom at our Ruimsig Primary School. Resident Teachers are responsible for driving a rigorous, enquiry‑based learning environment, supported by Deans of Instruction and learning designers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with learning designers to design impactful lessons.
  • Deliver engaging, enquiry‑based lessons that focus on learning through play.
  • Observe, coach, and model teaching for Apprentice and Assistant Teachers.
  • Provide a flexible, nurturing, child‑centered environment responsive to the dynamic needs of young children.
  • Support toilet training and routines for pre‑schoolers, while developing socialisation, separation, and speech skills.
  • Infuse joy and passion for learning, keeping students excited and invested in their development.
  • Set and communicate rigorous, ambitious goals for all students within appropriate age‑based expectations.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and share results with parents regularly.
  • Attend weekly feedback meetings with Deans and learning designers to enhance teaching practices.
  • Fully participate in professional growth opportunities, including daily team meetings, reflections, and instructional coaching.
  • Communicate with parents via email, telephone, and parent‑teacher conferences.
  • Contribute to and participate in co‑curricular programming for at least one activity per term.
  • Participate in collaborative teams and committees, fulfilling supervision duties as assigned, including some morning, evening, and weekend events.
Skills and Qualifications Required
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed) or Bachelor’s Degree + Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) – Foundation Phase.
  • SACE registered (please provide registration number and certificate in application).
  • Strong understanding of child development and play‑based learning.
  • Experience with Reggio Emilia approach is an added advantage.
  • Ability to lead a classroom independently, with practical classroom experience.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid Police Clearance (no older than 6 months).
  • or passport.
  • Work permit (if applicable).
  • SACE certificate.
