Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institutionProfessional Registration:
Possess a valid professional registration with The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management ProfessionsExperience:
Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in construction project management, preferably in the field of water treatment works or similarKnowledge of legal practices and labour lawExtensive knowledge and understanding of water treatment processes, systems, and equipmentKnowledge of design standards, MS Projects and MS OfficeProven track record of successfully delivering complex construction projects within budget and timelinesSkills and
Competencies:
Strong leadership and management skills to effectively lead a team and coordinate with various stakeholders involved in the projectExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliersProficient in project management tools and techniques, with the ability to develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocationsIn-depth understanding of relevant construction regulations, codes, and safety standardsAbility to conduct thorough project risk assessments and develop mitigation strategiesStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressureExceptional attention to detail and ability to ensure high-quality standards in project executionProficient in using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant project management softwareRoles and Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of construction projects related to water treatment works, from inception to completionDevelop and manage project plans, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and resource allocationCoordinate and collaborate with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory authoritiesManage and lead a project team, ensuring effective communication, delegation, and performance managementEnsure compliance with relevant construction regulations, codes, and safety standards throughout the project lifecycleConduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, identify issues, and implement corrective actions as neededPrepare and present detailed reports, including project status updates, to relevant stakeholdersReview project documentation, contracts, and specifications to ensure accuracy and adherence to project requirementsIdentify potential risks and develop effective risk management strategies to mitigate their impact on project outcomesMaintain accurate project records, including documentation of changes, issues, and lessons learned for future referenceBenefits:
