Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, driving the company’s growth by identifying new business opportunities, and expanding market reach.
Position Information- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or a related field.
- A Postgraduate Diploma or master’s degree (MBA) in Business Management or Marketing will be an added advantage.
- The position requires strong analytical, communication, and strategic planning skills to achieve sustainable business growth.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sales, or marketing, preferably within a relevant industry.
- Proven track record of achieving business growth and developing new client relationships.
- Experience in developing and implementing business strategies, preparing proposals, and negotiating contracts.
- Exposure to market analysis, client relationship management, and project development.
- Strong understanding of the Construction industry trends, market dynamics, and customer behavior.
- Identify New Business Opportunities – Research and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and potential clients.
- Develop and Implement Growth Strategies – Create business development plans aligned with company objectives;
Develop Go-to-Market strategies to increase sales, expand market presence, and boost profitability. - Build and Maintain Client Relationships – Establish and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders;
Maintain regular communication to understand client needs and ensure satisfaction;
Generate leads and convert them into long-term clients;
Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business. - Lead Proposal and Tender Processes – Prepare and submit business proposals, presentations, and tender documents;
Negotiate contract terms and pricing to secure profitable deals. - Collaborate with Internal Teams – Work with marketing, estimating, finance, and operations teams to ensure securing of new business and smooth delivery of client solutions;
Provide feedback to estimating team members based on market insights. - Achieve Sales and Revenue Targets – Set and meet individual and departmental sales goals;
Monitor key performance indicators like revenue growth, client retention, and market penetration and prepare progress reports for management;
Sometimes be directly involved in high-value sales pitches and/or business development negotiations. - Market Research and Analysis – Gather and interpret data on industry developments, competitors, and customer preferences;
Use insights to inform strategic decisions and Business Development initiatives. - Brand Promotion and Networking – Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and networking events;
Promote the company’s products and services to existing and potential clients including other stakeholders. - Customer Retention and After-Sales Support – Ensure ongoing client satisfaction through regular follow-ups and support;
Address and resolve client concerns promptly to maintain strong relationships. - Reporting and Forecasting – Prepare detailed sales forecasts, performance reports, and pipeline updates for management;
Provide strategic recommendations for future growth opportunities. - Other qualifications and attributes:
