Position OverviewThe Check-In Equipment Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining all delivery equipment used by drivers, including electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and pump jacks. This role ensures equipment is operable, properly allocated for each truck, and returned after routes. The clerk also performs truck inspections, assists with dispatch and check-in duties, and supports warehouse operations as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Allocate and manage delivery equipment for drivers based on workload.
- Inspect and ensure all equipment is operable; place defective equipment in lockout/tagout for repair.
- Train new drivers and driver helpers on equipment check-in/check-out procedures.
- Verify all equipment is returned after routes and report any damages or missing items.
- Perform truck inspections to ensure cabs and trailers are clean and free of debris.
- Charge batteries and powered equipment for next-day use.
- Maintain equipment maintenance logs and ensure all paperwork, including DVIRs, is completed.
- Process returned merchandise with warehouse staff.
- Assist with loading/unloading trucks as needed.
- Ensure all locks and keys are accounted for.
- Perform light repair work on hand trucks and other equipment.
- Support driver dispatch and check-in duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for light equipment repairs.
- Comfortable using a personal cell phone for monitoring and reporting equipment status.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a warehouse and outdoor environment as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience in distribution or a related field.
- Reliable transportation and ability to use a personal cell phone for work-related tasks.
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Hours:
Overnight shift, 5 days a week, includes weekends
